The Arden
South Glassgreen, Elgin
The Arden at our South Glassgreen development in Elgin is a special show home filled with warmth and vibrancy. It’s four well equipped bedrooms, combined with roomy and open plan ground floor spaces make the layout an ideal choice for families. Our aim was to capture the essence of a cosy family home within the show home design.
As you enter, the hallway has a plush champagne carpet underfoot, welcoming you to take your shoes off and get comfortable. This is complemented by brown feature wallpaper and soft lighting. There’s also a large floor to ceiling window providing natural daylight. The hall curves through the home, providing access to the lounge, kitchen, W.C and internal access to the integrated garage.
The first room we come to is the lounge and there are many highlights to appreciate in this room. Firstly, the architecture is charming, featuring a bay window providing panoramic views to the front garden and beyond. There is an inviting sofa positioned in this space, the perfect spot for curling up and reading your new favourite book, scrolling Facebook on your phone, or catching up with some good television. The next piece to catch your eye will likely be the feature fireplace. It is in a modern style, inset into the protruding wall, and creates a hypnotic focal point in the room where you can let your mind drift while watching the artificial flames dance behind the glass. Above this sits a large television, perfect for streaming movies with the family. The soft gold and crème furniture and décor through the room is easy on the eye creating harmony throughout.
Moving further down the hallway, there is an open plan kitchen, dining, and sunroom area. The décor is well balanced, making this large space feel comfortable. Soft curves are used in the dining area, for example on the mirror and dining table and chairs, set against the crisp geometric pattern on the feature wall. Meanwhile, the U-shaped kitchen layout is ideal for those seeking lots of worktop and storage space, making cooking a pleasure. Here we showcase one of the benefits to buying with Springfield – all of your integrated appliances are included! On show, we can see the oven, microwave, hob and hood, while tucked away behind the cabinets you have your fridge, freezer, and dishwasher. The colour scheme has carried through from previous rooms, with floor tiles closely matching the colour of the carpet in the hallway and lounge.
Tucked away at the rear of the home, we have the sunroom adjacent to the dining area. This is a bright space with windows looking out in all directions, and French doors providing access to the garden. We have opted for a plump sofa and lots of cushions that is whispering to you to sit down and relax with a hot drink. Families will love this space as you can supervise the kids playing in the garden from a relaxing spot, and the room is also great for getting everyone together for games and activities. Whatever you use your sunroom for, we know it will be a room you use a lot!
Completing the ground floor, we have a W.C. We’ve kept it simple in this room, allowing the matching floor and wall tiling to shine.
As we ascend the stairs, the first room we come to is one of the bedrooms, with the family bathroom opposite. This would make an ideal guest room and has been decorated to illustrate this with a classy hotel atmosphere created by the décor. The large window lets in abundant light, and the mirrored wardrobe opposite reflects it back across the room, making the space feel bright and open.
The family bathroom is well equipped, with a shower over the bath offering choice. The modern sanitaryware includes a floating vanity sink unit with storage underneath and a large wall mirror above. We have mixed up the tiling with a tactile style chosen around the bath and shower area, with the rest of the room being smooth. The chrome trim finishes it off beautifully, while other touches such as the towel warmer and shaver socket add the final touches to make this a practical family bathroom.
The next bedroom we come to is another double bedroom with fitted wardrobe. It is decorated similarly to the previous room with soft brown, crème, and white tones. Flowers and a diffuser in the window set the mood for rest and relaxation.
Next, we come to the main bedroom. Not only is it the largest of this home’s four bedrooms, but it also has some interesting additional features. The window is inset into a sloped roof, framing the view beautifully. There’s also a fitted wardrobe and private en-suite providing an extra touch of luxury and convenience. The en-suite has a shower cubicle, toilet, and sink, and is in keeping with the style of the other bathrooms throughout the home providing continuity.
Finally, next door to the main bedroom, we have a final fourth bedroom. Due to its location, it would be an ideal nursery room for parents with young children. It could also be a home office if not required as a bedroom. We have chosen to show how it can easily accommodate both a bed and a practical workspace with a desk and chair.
Overall, this home is very sensibly laid out, and provides great flexibility in its use.
